Down in Socal
Whoot so I'm down in socal nowl Monterey Park to be exact. My family left around 11:15 PM ish yesterday morning, and we ended up getting here around 5:00 or something. Not too bad of a trip. I read some
Swimming Across: A Memoir, the book I've been casually reading for about eight months now. Went out to eat some hot pot, and that was about it for the night. Even when I'm 350 miles away, the guys still manage to make fun of me. =\ Oh btw, I got here first.
Went out to lunch today, and I must say that fried rice portions down here own what's up in norcal. Same price, double the portion. Simple as that. I watched a little bit of
Summer Catch. Yeah the movie probably sucks, but I'm always down for movies like it. Too bad I didn't get an opportunity to finish it. Today was my grandma's 70th birthday (Lunar calendar), so we celebrated that doing the chinese banquet type thing. Three three-figure cost tables accomodated friends and family, and everybody had a great time. Most of the men got drunk, and most of us third generation family members got a nice little buzz. My brother and I had to drag out dad to and from the bathroom, and up into bed when we got home. A few uncles had to be dragged around, as well. While I was in the restaurant bathroom, some amigo started talking to me in espanol. Haha, that was the second time I had to put my schooling to use. He was saying something about his kid or someone back home in Mexico being a soccer champion. Oh well. Picking up on keywords is the main idea when talking in an unfamiler language. I think I did alright.
Embarrasing moment: So the dad comes by with a wine glass (restaurant had not shot glasses) of straight vodka, and he sets it down to me. Turns out he wanted me to "try" some, but at the time I thought he wanted me to shoot it. As I'm hitting it, he reaches for the glass, and I end up wasting some of it on my chin and shirt. What a waste. Boo.
